About Me

Some people find their way into transportation, but I have always known it was my calling. In 7th grade, I decided I was going to go to Cal Poly SLO and become a traffic engineer, and well, the rest is history. During a college tour my senior year of high school, I talked with students running an Open House booth for the local ITE student chapter, and was immediately sold on ITE.  During my time in school, I was fortunate to be able to serve as student chapter Treasurer and then President.

After receiving my B.S. and M.S. in Civil Engineering from Cal Poly in 2013, I started my career as an assistant transportation engineer with DKS Associates in Sacramento, CA.  I had the opportunity to work on a large variety of projects, including travel demand modeling, microsimulation, traffic signal design, operational, safety, and impact studies, and fee program development. I have been a CA-licensed civil engineer since 2014, and traffic engineer since 2015. In 2015, I was encouraged to run for the local NorCal ITE Section Board, and finished my Presidential term in 2019.

After seven years in the private sector, I decided to accept a management position with the Sacramento County Department of Transportation (SacDOT) in 2020. I currently serve as Principal Civil Engineer, overseeing 10 engineers in SacDOT's Transportation Planning and Development Services group. My transportation planning team primarily handles project-level CEQA review (VMT and safety analysis), General Plan consistency review (traffic studies), and long range planning (specific/master plans). The development services team works closely with customers throughout the entitlement process, including assigning conditions of approval and right of way requirements, and reviewing improvement plans.

Since 2019, I have served as the ITE Western District's Website Manager, and am currently the Local Arrangements Committee (LAC) Chair for the upcoming Western District Annual meeting in Sacramento, CA.  It's going to be an unforgettable meeting - 20 years to the date since the last WesternITE conference in Sacramento in 2004. I hope you will consider being a part of it!

Outside of work, I enjoy country line dancing, skiing, backpacking, scuba diving, and travel (27 states, 16 countries, 5 continents, and 26/63 national parks!)
